MAKEUP MONDAY : MAC Retro Matte Lipsticks

So it is no surprise that I like lipstick. Especially dramatic, statement lipsticks. And MAC lipsticks. So obviously I was excited about their new entirely-lipstick collection, the Retro Mattes. Unfortunately some have already sold out, and a couple are coming soon, but it is definitely worth checking out. They might still have them available at your local store!

Steady Going, Runway Hit, Dangerous, Relentlessly Red,
All Fired Up, Flat Out Fabulous, Ruby Woo, Fixed On Drama

I really really want to get Dangerous, Relentlessly Red, and Flat Out Fabulous.

If you want to check out swatches, check out Vampy Varnish, and Temptalia. If you'd like to purchase them online, you can here.

Monochromatic Suits

So I don't personally have any non-black suits, so I can't really do this trend... But I love it. I would love a cobalt blue suit. I think it makes a huge statement, and while really professional, also really trendy. So basically, if you want to make a statement at your new job, or even an interview, pull out a statement colored suit.

Emmy Fashion 2013

Emmy fashion is always pretty nice, the television stars tend to be a little more classically dramatic in choice, rather than outright weird like musicians (hello, VMAs). There were more beautiful dresses, hairdos, and makeup, but these are my favorites.

Claire Danes | Julie Bowen

Kaley Cuoco | Leslie Mann

Michelle Dockery | Rose Byrne

Shaun Robinson | Taylor Schilling

If you want to know who brought home an Emmy, you can look at a complete list here

SHOESDAY TUESDAY : Rebecca Minkoff New Arrivals

So, it is no secret that I am a big fan of Rebecca Minkoff, and her latest creations are no different. She posted a teaser picture on her Instagram a few days ago and I freaked. These new shoes are beautiful, and unfortunately, entirely out of my budget. However, we can still look, right?

These are my top picks, but to be completely honest, I'd be completely over-the-moon if I could have any of them.

Also, can I just say how happy I am that shorter heels are having a moment? My feet are not fans of the stilettos.

MAKEUP MONDAY : Orange Lips

So I guess the orange lip is coming back for another spring season, or so it seems on the runway.

We also saw lavender lips at Prabal Gurung (left), and lots of orange at Rag and Bone (right).

This is such an easy trend to try out, and chances are, you already have an orange lipstick in your collection. If you are looking to add one (or two!) to your lipstick assortment, these are my favorites...

They are all great quality, and look beautiful on the lips. I would definitely say the Maybelline lipstick is the most opaque, and the Revlon Lip Butter is obviously more of a lip balm (sheerer), but they all show up nicely. I personally think it's acceptable to have all of them. ;)

RECAP

It's about time I get back into the normal pace of my blog. These last two weeks have been pretty busy. I have been interviewing for some jobs, hopefully that turns out in my favor. Also I have been getting more and more obsessed with Twitter, so don't forget to check it out @brynnarachelle.

I just started a food blog, so be sure to check out The Dining Connoisseur! :)

YOUTUBE : I just found Hunter March on YouTube, and I am pretty obssessed. He is also beautiful.

Also JennaMarble's new video cracked me up. I was crying from laughter.

MUSIC : So much good music lately! I have been loving Miley's Wrecking Ball (by the way, congratulations on the new VEVO records!)

Lorde's Royals isn't a super recent song, however, I have been obsessed. This girl is going to be huge.

Lastly, a new favorite, I am not a huge Kanye West fan, but this song is really fun. It's a great dance song!

NYFW : Betsey Johnson

At least since she went bankrupt, her collections haven't been all that impressive, however she still throws a damn good show. Betsey shows are always crazy and fun and exciting. I'd love to go to one at some point, add that to the bucket list.

What is up with those wigs...? Although I am digging the jewelry, in a weird way.

Inappropriate, sure, but I think this little set was funny. BJ one a day, Sun-Sat.

And with that, I wrap up my little NYFW posts. I had a good time following all of the different shows, and I hope that one day I will be able to attend some. Which was your favorite?

NYFW : Milly NY by Michelle

Ah, Milly. Hands down, my favorite show of the week. Can we just say how fabulous it is? Maybe not the most wearable, but gorgeous nevertheless.

I am just going to let the clothes speak for themselves. I am just obsessed with the sheerness, the colors, the cutouts, and the matching pieces. Can I just have the whole collection? How cool would it be to wear on of those sheer form-fitting dresses at a formal? What do you think, inappropriate or fashion-forward?

NYFW : Marc by Marc Jacobs

This was an interesting show, I really enjoyed the environment. It definitely complements the metallic pieces that are featured. You can watch the entire show here, if you are interested.

A few looks stuck out, but a lot of it seemed too intense for me. That silver metallic onesie with the giant black stars? No thanks.

If you are interested in the beauty involved in the show, you can watch this Popsugar video. The scarf thing is very... unique.

NYFW : J.Crew

J.Crew was definitely less dramatic and unexpected, but still lovely. I am also probably likely to own one of these pieces come next spring, since I do tend to shop at J.Crew. It's exciting to think of me actually owning these pieces that are featured on the runway, and it is definitely possible with all of these ready-to-wear collections. For an overview of the collection, @jcrew on Instagram posted a couple pictures of the mens and womens collections overall.

That neon coat though. I would say this collection is very J.Crew typical, as well as traditionally spring, unlike the other collections we have seen so far on the runway. No sign of the overwhelming presence of grey... or wet slick hair (thank god).

I love that white circle cut-out top in the last image, I may need to get that.

NYFW : Alice + Olivia

Pretty and preppy, as Alice + Olivia designer, Stacey described the new SS14 collection, and I'd have to say I agree. @alice_olivia posted these, among others, the day of the presentation. Her color palette is great, interesting to look at as a design student. I especially love at the top she wrote "Pink is not just a color, it's an attitude." Truth.

She definitely had a wider range than a lot of the designers featured this week, however, that is to be expected from a ready-to-wear presentation, as it is supposed to be a little more wearable for the everyday person. I am loving the patterned suit in the first picture, and the full patterned skirt in the last, along with everything in between.

I am such a big fan of Alice + Olivia, especially her fabulous dresses. This collection is a nice change-of-pace from her fall/winter collection out currently, which I believe is goth themed.
